Why stay in the PCUSA?

June 27, 2012 — Leave a comment

For ministers of evangelical conviction the steady leftward march of the Presbyterian Church (USA) has been something of a long defeat, to borrow a term from J. R. R. Tolkien. Despite advances here and victories there, the church has fairly steadily moved to express a progressive form of Christianity that evangelicals believe is sub-biblical. Is it Christian? Yes. Is it heretical? At times. Is it apostate? Not yet.

A new blog by young evangelical ministers in the PCUSA has just gone live. It will explore the reasons why these ministers, all evangelicals, feel compelled to stay in the PCUSA rather than leave for ECO or the EPC. You can read it at www.staypcusa.com

I’d encourage you to check out the blog to see that there are evangelical ministers who have felt called to remain as an evangelical presence in the midst of a denomination that is decidedly not.
