Over breakfast this morning, I discovered that my son has a new reading assignment for his literacy class, the graphic novel Maus. This is the book that reached the bestseller list after a school district banned the book from classrooms.
Maus was published in the 1980s and its iconic cover–complete with a Hitler-esque Mouse superimposed on a Swastika–is firmly lodged in my memory though I never read the book.
I’m looking forward to hearing what my son thinks about it and taking a look at it myself.
